Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - Sounds of the Season

Hello and welcome to the final Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop for 2025.

This month we are creating with the Sounds of the Season as our theme. There is a Christmas Carol, called "I heard the bells on Christmas Day",  based on a poem written in 1863 by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and American Poet. The refrain "Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men" is a reference to the Bible, in which angels herald the birth of Christ. It is a carol that I have loved hearing over the years and isn't as heard as often as some others. It is a beautiful piece of music.

I have used the" Peace on Earth" sentiment from the Peace on Earth stamp set to represent this Sound Of The Season. I would love it if you listened to this beautiful Carol.

I have kept the card simple letting the sentiment shine. The card base is Secret Sea. The mat layer is Secret Sea Two Toned card stock and I have embossed the lighter side using the Peaceful Greenery Embossing Folder. I then cut this mat layer down to match the embossed area. I cut the height of the card base does as well to frame the embossed layer. I rubbed a nail file across the top of the embossed layer to expose the white core of the raised areas. I also used the nail file to roughen the edges of the mat layer for s Shabby Chic look.

The sentiment was stamped in Secret Sea ink on Basic White card stock before die cutting using the coordinating label die. I die cut two if the leaf sprigs from Basic White card stock and adhered them to the sides of the sentiment label using glue  I adhered the sentiment layer with Dimensionals.

I die cut the Dove in Basic White card stock and the small sprig and two stars from the beautiful Cloud Cover  piece of Peaceful Garden Glimmer Paper. I adhered the Dove with Dimensionals and glued the sprig under its beak. The stars were glued on.

I love this card in blues for Christmas. The hues suit the elements from the dies and sentiment. When you are making Christmas cards I must admit I enjoy more simple projects so they can be made in bulk.

  1. Such a wonderful old carol for Christmas, Leonie! One I sang often many, many years ago. Thanks for the memories and the lovely card with the doves. xx
