Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to the first Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop for 2024!

This month we have a fabulous sketch to work with, see below. I love this interesting design and decided to use decorative masks to create my background. I wondered how I was going to create the lighter cross. And after some thought I decided to cut some strips of masking paper and mask under the decorative mask. I have also kept my card square.

I started with a Night of Navy square card base. I then cut a piece of Basic White card stock as a mat layer. I then cut another piece of Basic White card stock to do the Masking on. I taped off two thin strips of masking paper to create the cross on the card stock. I then taped the mask over the top of the Basic White layer and began blending Pool Party inkover the top of the mask with a Blending Brush. I carefully removed the mask and then the masking strips. Then glued this piece onto the card base.

The sentient was stamped in Night of Navy ink on Basic White card stock before punching out with the heaxagon punch. I die cut some pieces of Night of Navy and Pool Party card stock using the Timeless Arrangements Dies and glued them to both sides of the sentiment layer. Icut a 12cm length of the Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon and glued it to the card front at the bottom right before adhering the sentiment layer using Dimesnionals.

I am happy with how this turned out and enjoyed the double masking for the background layer. You could make this card more masculine by not adhering the die cut elements.

Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to the first Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop for 2024.

This year the wonderful crew have some great themes and projects to share with you. Below is an image of where the crew lives across the globe. it is so lovely to come together in this way and share creativity.

This month we have a fun sketch to work with. I love the square design and decided my card would be square. I have been playing with the Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper that is on offer during Sale a -bration! It is gorgeous and I decided to use it for this challenge.

I started with a Misty Moonlight card base which works well with the Boho Blue in the Designer Series Paper. I cut the DSp in a square then cut it in haf diagonally before gluing it to the card base.I cut two Basic White squares for the central focus piece. One 0.5cm bigger than the other. I embossed the smaller one with the Distressed Tile Embossing folder before gluing them together.. I then adhered this to the card front using Dimensionals.

I then fussy cut the sweet bird on the floral branch from the DSP. I used GlueDots™ to adhere to the bottom right of embossed layer. I cut a 2.5cm strip of Misty Moonlight card stock and stamped the sentiment in Versamark™ink before sprinkling with White Embossing Powder and set with the Heat tool. I bannered the end using the Banners Pick a Punch. I used Dimensionals and glue to adhere to the card front. I tied a small piece of Linen thread in a bow and glued it to the sentiment layer. The final thing was to add three Boho Blue Dots around the bird.

Colour INKspiration #158

Hello and welcome to the first Colour INKspiration Challenge of 2024!!

This year we have the most amazing colour palettes to share with you and would encourage you to join in on a challenge. You need to join our Colour INKspiration Challenges FaceBook group here. You will love all the inspiration there.

For our first challenge we have this amazing beach scene chosen by lovely crew member Lou Kitzelman.

I decided to stick with the beach theme and use the gorgeous Beach Dasy Bundle from the new Mini Catalogue, Page 58. The images in this bundle are so lovely and the dies are perfect.

I chose a BAsic White card base as I felt it showed all the colours well. The card front layer is also Basic White. I started by shading some Petal Pink at the base using a Blending Brush. Then used some masking tape to mark the horizon and blended Pool Party ink to the masking paper. I blended the Blueberry Bushel for the sky and was careful to create different depths of the colour to create the sky.

I stamped the birthday sentiment in the Petal Pink blended area so it sort of looks like it is wrttten in the sand. I stamped the birds in the sky in Blueberry Bushel ink then coloured with Blueberry Bushel stamping blends.

I die cut the palm tree in Crumb cake for the trunk and Pool Party for the palms. I used some Pool Party ink with blending brushes on the palms to give them some dimension. I then adhered to the left hand side of the card front using Dimensionals.

The lifesaver Hut is cut out of Basic White card stock. I hand cut a backing piece to fit behingd the windows and used Blueberry Bushel blended ink to shade the windows before gluing to the back of the Hut. The Hut was adhered to the card front using Dimensionals and Glue for the base and board walk.

The surfboard was stamped in Fresh Freesia ink then coloured with Fresh Freesia stampin' blends berfore being die cut and adhered to the front of the Hut using Dimensionals.

I enjoyed making this card as it is fun and different for me to create the background layer. I look forwaard to more creativity with this bundle.

Have a great week and Happy New Year!
