Hello and welcome to my blog.
It is time again for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop!
This month we are all creating a 3D item. I thought I would challenge myself to create a Pop Up Box card as I have not made one before.
It was surprisingly simple to create.
I chose the sweet Donoroar Suite to create this Pop Up Box card.
The card base is a piece of Pool Party measuring 8 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches. Scored along the long side at 2, 4, 6 and 8 inches then along the shorter side at 2 3/4 inches. I burnished all score lines with a bone folder. I cut down half way along the long side and cut out the 1/2 inch piece on the same side as the down cuts.
I glued the left over tab to the other side to create a box. I decorated the inside and outside of the box with coordinating Donoroar Designer Series Paper. These pieces measure 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches.
A smaller piece of Pool Part was cut to 3 inches x 2 3/4 inches and scored along the longer side at 1/2 inch and 2/1/2 inches. I burnished these score lines. I glued this to the centre of the box facing the front of the box.
I stamped the Dino, sentiment and palm tree in the colours listed in the Products used section below. The cut them out using the coordinating Dino dies. I also cut out one of the blue Pteranodons from the sweet Donoroar Designer Series Paper with the coordinating Dino Dies.
I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock on a piece of Whisper White card Stock measuring 2 inches x 3/4 inches. Then using scissors bannered the end. I decorated it with 2019 - 2021 In Colour Faceted Dots in Pretty Peacock and the Lovely Lipstick from the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots.
Also a little Whisper White Bakers Twine shaped into short streamers attached to the right hand side of the banner.
I stamped the grass from the Fable Friends stamp set in Old Olive on a piece of Whisper White card stock 3 inches wide. I then used a Stampin' Blend to lightly colour the whole piece. I then cut the grass down and glued it to the centre piece.
I used 1/4 inch strips of acetate to attach the four elements to the card base. These were shortened to the required length when positioning the element. I have one tip for you at this stage. Make sure that when the card is closed that no elements project further than the card before securing them with glue to the card base.
There you have my first attempt at creating a Pop Up Box Card. I really enjoyed creating it for this challenge.
I hope I have inspired you today.
Have a fantastic week - if you are in the southern hemisphere stay warm and if you are in the northern hemisphere stay cool. The winter solstice happened here of June 21 and it was mighty cold!
