Around the World on Wednesday - Sketch 109

Hello and welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop.

Each month a wonderful group of creative friends, pictured below, get together to create to a common theme. This month we are CASeing our wonderful crew member Chris Smith.

I love Chris's beautiful projects and look forward to her inspiration each month. Chris enjoys sketch challenges and it was a lot of fun to look at her work and decide on something I could recreate.

The card below is so beautiful and spoke to me. I love the die cut white layer that sits on top of the white card stock giving incredible dimension.  Also the beautifully stamped leaf on the green layer. I has to find something in my stash to recreate these elements to her design.

I chose the Charming Day stamp set and coordinating products for my CASe. The bloom and die cut pieces would help me recreate the elements I love about this card.

The card base is Basic White. I cut a strip of the green floral charm Designer Series Paper and used Versamark™ink to stamp the small leaves image before adhering it to a slightly larger  piece of Berry Burst card stock. I couldn't turn up the bottom corner of the DSP as Chris had as it didn't coordinate with my chosen colour palette. I glued this layer to the card front.

I stamped to bloom and leaves in Memento™ ink and used Stampin' Blends to colour before die cutting. I die cut a sprig in Basic White card stock. I layered all the die cut pieces with the white sprigs at the base using glue and Dimensionals. I tied a length of Linen Thread in a double bow and adhered it underneath the flower. I stamped the sentiment in Berry Burst ink on the right hand side of the card front. The final touch was three Berry Burst Dots around the bloom.

Thanks for this inspiration Chris Smith! I really enjoyed CASing you for this challenge.

Up next on this months blog hop is the wonderful Rochelle Laird- Smith. Click on the link below for more inspiration from the crew.

Colour INKspiration #197

Hello and welcome to Colour INKspiration #197!

This challenges beautiful inspiration image was chosen by crew member Vickie Boucher. I love any combination of blues or ocean coloured themes.

I was deciding which stamp set to use when I pulled the beautiful Gallery Blooms from the shelf. I looked at the images and desperately wanted to use the elegant bloom I have used in my card below. I gravitate towards the flowers that can be coloured or filled often. There is something so pretty and simple about this bloom so I decided it should take centre stage. I did not just want to stamp it in a challenge colour on white card stock. I also wanted to keep the card simple to honour the blooms.

I stamped the bloom twice in Versamark™ ink on Basic White card stock and used Clear Embossing Powder to set the image. I then used Misty Moonlight ink and a Blending Brush to colour the background. Then used an Arched die to cut out the blended area to set the image nicely on the card front. I truly love this technique and how it turned out.

My card base is Night of Navy card stock and I cut a Matt layer and Embossed it with the Damask Designs Embossing Folder before adhering to the card front. This Embossing Folder is such a gorgeous pattern and will work with a wide variety of bundles. I glued this to the card front before adhering the Arched layer using Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark™ ink on Night of Navy card stock. Sprinkled with white Embossing Powder and set with the Heat tool before being die cut using the smallest arch from the set. Then adhered this to the card front. I tied a length of Crumb Cake Baker's Twine in a double bow and adhered it underneath the sentiment using double sided tape. The sentiment then adhered with Dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you play along with this challenge!
