Colour INKspiration #171

Hello and welcome to Colour INKspiration #171!

We have another gorgeous colour palette for you for this challenge.  This months colour palette and image was chosen by crew member Vicki Boucher.  Wouldn't you love to sip the tea from that gorgeous cup. We welcome Jay Soriano as our guest designer fort his challenge.

I saw the roses on the cup and decided that the beautiful Stippled Roses Bundle would be used for this challenge. I had to resist the urge to create with a white background as I am trying to be more colourful these days. I pulled the Sketched Plaid from the shelf to use as a background layer. Roses and Plaid sound wonderful together.

The Plaid layer is Pretty in Pink ink on Pretty in Pink card stock. The card base is beautiful Berry Burst.

Colouring in the roses after stamping them in Memento™Tuxedo Black ink is such a delight using the Stampin' Blends. The richness you get from these blends is so beautiful. Before adhering to the background layer I adhered some die cut Pretty in Pink leaves around the blooms. I also used the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Blend to colour the white edges around the flowersso they wouldn't look stark against the pink mat layer.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark™ ink on Berry Burst card stock. I have used White Embossing Powder and used snips to trim close to the letters. The gorgeous Berry Burst Adhesive Backed Sequins were the final touch and adhered around the bloom.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Hope you join with the crew using this divine colour palette. Have a great week!

Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - Technique Challenge

Hello and welcome to this months Stampin Inkspirations Blog Hop.

This month we are featuring a fun Technique Challenge. We were asked to use a marble and ink refills to create a fun pattern for our card this month. This idea intrigued me and I looked forward to the creative process. I had no marbles in the house and could not find any locally. I asked my husband to purchase some Jaffa's for me but no found locally. He did, however, find some Orange Crunch BB's made by a famous Australian chocolate company called Darrell Lea. They are a favourite of my husband so I promised him the balls that were left over.

I started out thinking about how I could elevate this challenges requirements. I thought if I embossed the Leaf Collection image in Gold Embossing Powder on a piece of Basic White card stock, then ran the ball and Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana ink over the top I would get a great background. Unfortunately the ink colours didn't show very well on the embossed side and ran together to form a darker green.. BUT....the other side looked amazing and I decided to create with the reverse side that had the embossed area left white as the ink could not permeate the card card stock.  This was a wonderful discovery. The leaves looked amazing. See pictures below of the embossed side compared to the reverse side. I may have another go at this technique if I get some marbles that are smaller than the yummy BB's.

The card base is and mat is Granny Apple Green. The sentiment is stamped in Coastal Cabana on Basic White card stock. The leaves were stamped in Granny Apple Green. The you sentiment is stamped in Versamark™ink on Granny Apple Green card stock, sprinkled with White Embossing Powder and set with the heat tool. Then cut down close to the letters. Three of the Basic Rhinestone Jewels were all that was needed to complete this card.

I love the tropical feel to this card and are very happy that I looked on the other side. I thought it was such a disaster at first. Things just seemed to work out as they often do with card making.

Up next on this months blog hop is the wonderfully talented Diane Evans.
